Die Schlösser
von Zary
|
|||||
| "Lustschloss
Tummelhaus" (Polnisch: Palac Uciech) - der Name ist verlockend
gewählt und verspricht die Phantasie anzuregen. Rauschende

The palaces of Zary
|

|
"Pleasure palace Tummelhaus" (Polish: Palac Uciech) - the name is tempting and able to stimulate the imagination. Thoughts about grand celebrations and private rendezvous are the first which going through my mind. But the historical facts are quite different.
This small palace was built in 1723 as one of several outbuildings of the main "Palace Promnitz". Its original purpose was the harboring of a "knight academy", but then it was used as a factory for weaving clothes. From 1812 to 1945 it served as a lunatic asylum. The use thereafter is unknown to me. Today it is located inside the area of an active military hospital and is locked and abandoned. It is reported, that the current owner would sell it for 2 million EUR. In that case you would get a bare brickwork with leaking roof and missing electrical infrastructure, that is accessible only after passing a security check. Unlikely that a potential buyer would accept such circumstances at this price ...

Palace Bieberstein is clearly the oldest buildings in this ensemble - the origin is somewhere in the 14th century. And like so often, also this castle has seen various uses: from 1824 it was prison, from 1930 a local historical museum. Shortly afterwards the old state of the 16 Century was restored. Six years later a bomb caused severe damage that have been fixed in the 50's. After that nothing happened for a long time. 40 years later the palaces Bieberstein and Promnitz were sold to an investor who started with a rehabilitation and wanted to build a hotel. Due to the change of the investors residence into a prison this restoring came to a halt.
